Mann Singh rebels when the oppressive Maharaja's soldiers attempt to extract more taxes from impoverished farmers. He storms into the palace, interrupts dancers and threatens to kill Rajkumar Kiran. The Maharaja agrees to withdraw all taxes but his orders are over-ruled by the Mahamantri, who has the former as well as the Maharani forcibly confined. Mann Singh then abducts Kiran, takes him home, re-names him Badal, brings him up along with his son, Babloo, and wife, and teaches him how to excel in sword-play and to fight the tyrannical Mahamantri. Years later Badal has grown up, and is in love with Aarti. A stale tale, the story begins with Cauvery (priyamani), sister of the tough police commissioner Srihari Prasad (srihari). She comes across an IPS aspirant Kitty (sreenagara) at a chess match and they become friends. Meanwhile, Srihari Prasad begins to suspect his sister and thinks Kitty is Cauvery's boyfriend. Actually, Cauvery is in love with another guy and she wants to get married to him at the temple town of Kukke. How Kitty manages to clear the confusion of Srihari Prasad and what happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Seventy years ago the wealthy Thakur of Neelamghat had an affair with a gypsy girl, and then married another woman. The gypsy girl's dad placed a curse on the entire Thakur family that whenever a male marries, his wife will die in mysterious circumstances after an year.
